Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau - Son La (L, D)
8.00AM - Depart Hanoi traveling through the Red River Delta region, with a brief rest stop to stretch our legs at Mai Chau for a short walk, before arriving at Son La. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 2: Son La - Dien Bien Phu (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Breakfast, followed by visiting Son La's old French prison and museum.
11.00AM - Depart for Dien Bien Phu and enjoy the picturesque scenery as you pass the villages of Black Thai, White Thai, Meo and Muong peoples. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 3: Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Depart Dien Bien Phu after breakfast. At Muong Lay, the drive is stunning with tiered tea plantations and verdant rice terraces carved into the landscape.
7.00PM - Arrive at Lai Chau (formerly Tam Duong) for the night.
* Viet Bamboo Travel know the land: If you happen to be in Lai Chau on a Sunday morning, the town is bustling with activity as the local hill tribes gather for their weekly market day.
Day 4: Lai Chau - Sapa (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Depart Lai Chau for Sa Pa via Tam Duong (formerly Binh Lu), over the 1900m Tram Ton pass.
* Viet Bamboo Travel know the land: Tran Ton pass is Vietnam's highest mountain pass and considered by many to be the most beautiful stretch of road in the country. Sapa is nestled at over 1600m in the breathtaking Hoang Lien Son Mountains.
1.00PM - After lunch, trek down this stunning valley sculpted with steep rice terraces to Ta Van village for a home stay. Enjoy the savoury food and the hospitality of your Dzay hosts.
Day 5: Sapa - Ban Ho (B, L, D)
8.00AM - After breakfast, trek along rice terraces, through lush bamboo forest and local villages and hill tribes
12.00PM - Break for a picnic lunch.
1.00PM - Trek along the rice terraces, trails and dirt roads into Ban Ho for an insightful night with your Tay hosts, where you’ll sleep in the cosy loft for the night.
Day 6: Ban Ho - Sapa - Lao Cai - Hanoi (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Breakfast, followed by a trek to the dirt road for our jeep ride back to Sapa.
12.00PM - Explore Sapa town, visiting local stores and the market
6.00PM - Bus departs Sapa town for Lao Cai.
7.00PM - Arrive at Lao Cai.
8.20PM - Air-conditioned soft sleeper night train departs for Hanoi.
5.00AM (following day) - Arrive at Ha Noi Railway Station.
