Day 1: Ha Noi - Thai Nguyen - Ba Be National Park (L, D)
7:30AM - Depart Hanoi for a drive through the Red River Delta to Thai Nguyen.
11.00AM - Visit Museum of the Cultures of Viet Nam's Ethnic Groups.
2.00PM - Trek through the mountainous area of Ba Be National Park.
5.00PM - Boat trip to a Tay village
6.00PM - Dinner and home stay overnight.
Day 2: Ba Be - Cao Bang (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Breakfast and depart for Ba Be Lake, which is surrounded by rugged limestone mountains and is Vietnam's only natural mountain lake with over 330 species of butterflies.
1.00PM - Trek to Dau Dang Waterfall after lunch, then head north through the mountains to the city of Cao Bang. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 3: Ban Gioc Waterfall (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Breakfast and depart for the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Chinese border. This picturesque waterfall is 53m high and spans 300m. Limestone karst formations towering from the surrounding rice paddies belonging to various ethnic minority groups complete this magnificent scenery.
12.00PM - Picnic lunch at the waterfall.
2.00PM - Return to Cao Bang via the expansive 2,144m Nguom Ngao Cavern to explore its magnificent natural structures
7.00PM - Dinner and overnight in a hotel in Cao Bang.
Day 4: Cao Bang - Lang Son - Ha Noi (B, L, D)
8.00AM - Breakfast and depart Cao Bang for an uphill trek to the War Memorial for a great panoramic view and see the famous Highway 4, as it winds its way through steep mountain passes!
10.00AM - Visit Lang Son, the capital of this mountainous area and an important crossing and trading route with China.
1.00PM - Visit Lang Son's two markets, the Old Market and the Dong Kinh Market.
3.00PM - visit the ruins of the Mac Dynasty Citadel and Tam Thanh Cave and Nhi Thanh Cave, which was formed by the river that flows through it and has romantic poems carved at its entrance by the man who discovered it in the 18th century.
8.00PM - arrive in Hanoi.
