Night1: Departure from Hanoi to Lao Cai
8.00PM - transfer from your hotel to the Hanoi train station for boarding at 9:15pm. Enjoy a restful night in an air-conditioned soft sleeper cabin for 4 to travel north to Lao Cai town. (Unlike some other travel agencies, this is not considered Day 1 of our itinerary).
Day 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai - Sapa, trek to Ta Phin (B, L, D)
6.00AM - The train arrives in Lao Cai, where you will be met by a guide, driver and car. Drive to Sapa and enjoy the scenic view of terraced rice patties lighly blanketed by the early morning fog.
8.00AM - arrive at a local restaurant in Sapa for a shower and breakfast.
9.00AM - begin the trek through terraced rice fields and H'mong villages.
12.00PM - picnic lunch, followed by trek Ta Phin village of the Dao people.
6.00PM - arrive at the home of your Dao host family where we will share in a traditional Dao dinner dinner and stay for the night.
Day 2: More trekking and back to Sapa (B, L, D)
6.00AM - At first light, you may join the Dao people in their daily morning activities, like feeding farm animals. Breakfast with the Dao people.
8.00AM - Option 1 - Trek for 2 and a half hours through a valley to the main road linking Lao Cai and Sapa.
Option 2 - Tour the Dao village and its surrounding areas, interacting with with Dao community.
11.00AM - depart for Sapa by car, check in to the hotel and break for lunch.
3.00PM - visit the gardens of beautiful Ham Rong mountain & take part in a traditional ethnic music performance put on by the ethnic minority people.
6.00PM - return to Sapa and tour Sapa by night on your own leisure.
Day 3: A visit Hmong village, then Lao Cai for night train to Hanoi (B, L, D)
9.00AM - visit the Sapa markets and do some shopping.
12.00PM - lunch at a nearby restaurant.
2.00PM - travel by car to the H'mong village of Sin Chai to learn more about the H'mong people
5.00PM - depart for Lao Cai train station
8.00PM - depart Lao Cai by train and arrive in Hanoi at about 5am
What to bring: sleeping bags, a cable lock for your bags, flashlights, comfortable walking shoes, first-aid kit and insect repellent are recommended. Avoid bringing valuables, except your original passports, which are required to check in to hotels. |
